SONATA: Sensor-driven statistical tools to evaluate risks and manage safety in the built environment

Shake-table tests on gypsum partition walls
SONATA research team
First SONATA test campaign: three gypsum partition walls (drywalls) tested in the 9DLAB facility at Eucentre, for sensor-based seismic damage assessment of non-structural elements.

ERIES: Engineering Research Infrastructures for European Synergies
Project coordination team
Transnational access to experimental facilities in structural, seismic, wind and geotechnical engineering, across 13 partners in 8 countries. Helped coordinate access for external research teams and contributed to the team handling the project’s continuous reporting to the European Commission through the EU Funding & Tenders Portal.

Performance-Based Earthquake Engineering Workshop, Zagreb 2025
Instructor
Thirty-hour workshop (15 lectures, 15 tutorials) on seismic risk assessment, economic loss estimation and modelling with OpenSees and Python, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb. Organised with the Croatian Center for Earthquake Engineering and Djura; taught with Gerard J. O’Reilly and Volkan Ozsarac.

An algorithm to find optimal cutting patterns for window and door profiles, raising production efficiency and cutting waste, with bespoke data analytics on plant productivity.

Research collaborator
Prototype risk-aware navigation system for industrial plants at risk of NaTech accidents, combining a sensor array with fragility models to guide workers to safety. Developed the pathfinding: a modified A* algorithm that routes workers along the safest exit on a live risk map. Also designed the database behind the system.
